Ants invade the home and become an issue in all seasons, believe it or not. Mostly spring and summer, but also in the fall and winter. By fall, if ants have not been eliminated from the home properly, they set up a nest in the walls and other voids in the home, and then in the winter, if we get a hot day, you will see ants emerge and crawl around the kitchen or other parts of the house.

Its in the spring and summer when you will notice ants trailing up the outside walls into cracks and crevices, and this is when they are setting up shop and gearing up for their long winter’s nap.

Ants like odorous house ants, pavement ants, Carpenter Ants, and sugar ants are all very common in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania.

Why not just spray with some over-the-counter type sprays when dealing with ants? The problem is that many of the ant species will separate from their main nest and move to other parts of the home, making it much more difficult to control. This is called “budding” and is a survival technique. Odorous house ants are notorious for this practice.

The best way to control an ant’s nest is to destroy it where it stands, slowly, and professionally. Companies like Grove Pest Control use non-repellent chemicals and baits to slowly destroy the nest, making it a more permanent control.
